If you would like to submit a design for consideration for this years Dragonwear please turn in your artwork to Ms Culbertson by the Thanksgiving break. Other than a single color there are no restrictions to design although production costs might well factor into the final choice. Any questions can be directed to Paul Dieter in the senior events committee. csca@me.com Coming Attractions and Past Accomplishments The State We're In Interim Superintendent Susan Enfield released her "State of the District" report last week, including individual school reports. Center School Ski Bus Registration forms for the Center School ski bus are now available at school [and on the CSCA website here]. Sign your student up now to make sure it happens. The ski bus will be on Wednesdays for 6 weeks beginning January 11. It leaves school around 2:30 on Wednesdays and returns around 10:00. Bus only: $150; Bus and lift ticket: $330. If you're looking out the window wondering if we're heading toward one of those fabled "Snow Days," check the district website at Seattle Public Schools or the public school Emergency Communications System at School Report. Not all radio stations carry this information any more, but if you are signed on to receive robo-calls from the district, you should get one if they are going to cancel school for the day or call a late start time. Outside the Center School Careers in Fashion Come to the ongoing meetings of Sew Beautiful, a group for women between 12-18 interested in hands-on experience in the fashion industry. Mondays, 4-6 pm, at the Garfield Teen Life Center (428-23rd Ave.). For more information, call 206-684-4550. Writer's Workshop Hugo House is sponsoring "Write Time," a free weekly drop-in writing circle for grades 9-12. facilitated by Karen Finneyfrock and guests. You can bring current projects or just use the time to free write. Wednesdays, 6-7 pm. at Hugo House (1634-11th Ave). For more information check their website Hugo House Time for Turkey Local NBA stars Brandon Roy, Jamal Crawford, Will Conroy, Isaiah Thomas and Spencer Hawes team up with Councilmember Bruce Harrell and Mayor Mike McGinn to give away 2,000 Thanksgiving dinners to families on the free and reduced lunch program. The "Thanks-Give-N-Go Turkey Give-Away" takes place on Tuesday, November 22 from 5-8 pm at the Rainier Community Center located at 4600 38th Avenue South, Seattle WA. All families who are on the free and reduced lunch program can receive a free Thanksgiving meal. Aspiring Journalist? UNITY: Journalists of Color is looking for scholarship applicants to their conference, scheduled for 1-4 August 2012 in Las Vegas. Successful applicants receive all expenses for the conference -- for more information, check their website at http://unityconvention.org/stu_projects_08.cfm Last, But Not Least Look Behind the Curtain Seattle Theater Group, which runs the historic Paramount and Moore Theaters downtown, made it three this year when it began running the Neptune Theater in the University District. They offer free monthly backstage tours of all three houses, with explanations of the stage mechanics and each theater's special features. So if you've wanted the chance to stand on the stage rather than sitting in the audience, here's your moment. Paramount Theater: First Saturday of the month, 10 am, 9th and Pine. Moore Theater: Second Saturday of the month, 10 am, 2nd and Virginia Neptune Theater: Third Saturday of the month, 10 am, NE 45th and Brooklyn.
