Remember, this Wednesday night at Town Hall, candidates for the open school board seats in a debate sponsored by the Stranger and Washington Bus -- the groups that brought you the recent city council debate with a special talent category -- karaoke ahoy! sandi kurtz submitarticle@csca.thecenterschool.net sandik@drizzle.com 206-523-6553 Center School Connections The Center School - http://www.centerschoolseattle.org/ Center School Community Association (aka PTA) - http://csca.thecenterschool.net/ Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Center-School-Community-Association-CSCA/100811430005511 Remember, to unsubscribe to this newsletter, click on the link at the bottom of the page to get to the CSCA website. This Week at the Center School Just When You Thought It Would Settle Down There's a Community Meeting on Tuesday, and early dismissal on Wednesday, so get out your calendars... Tuesday: no tutorials, 1st period starts at 8:30, Community Meeting at McCaw Hall at 9:10. Wednesday: two hour early dismissal, but still a 1-6 day, with 40 minute periods. Coming Attractions and Past Accomplishments Once More, With Feeling Also known as Forms, and How to Get Them. If you still haven't been able to find the back-to-school forms for the CSCA (membership, directory, volunteer, school enrichment, etc) you can look here http://www.csca.thecenterschool.net/csca-home/2011-2012-at-tcs.html listed as the "2011-2012 TCS Online Welcome Packet" (I know, not a very jazzy title, but we need to have some sense of decorum). Point, click, fill them in and send them back! Who's Who? Big thanks to the 89 families who have already turned in their Center School Directory forms, and a gentle poke in the side for those who still have the paperwork on their desk. You know which group you're a part of -- if it's the latter, please complete the form and get it back to school by October 1. Questions? Contact Cindy Dieter . Center School Families Pizza-And-A-Bakesale Come eat the universal kid food, buy some tasty sweets and meet fellow families at this CSCA-sponsored evening. Thursday October 6, at 6 pm at the Center School. For more information contact Jessica Wesch or check out the spiffy flyer at 926-103 - pizza party.doc. And to supply a little something sweet for the cause, see below. Baking for a Good Cause from Jessica Wesch I KNOW you can bake! Volunteer your talents for our Community Pizza Party and Bake Sale Oct 6th! Cup cakes, rice crispy treats, brownies, cheese cake - BRING IT ON! (OR - I will subject you all to something healthy and vegan that I bake like zucchini muffins and spinach brownies. Ask my kid, I mean it...) Sincerely, Jessica CSCA Volunteer Coordinator (and zucchini goddess) jesamama@yahoo.com Looking for Blast/Website Volunteers We'd like to expand the coverage of the Blast and the CSCA website, but need some human power to make it happen -- if you're interested in working on either of these projects, please let us know -- we'd love the company! sandi kurtz, Center School Blast Tom Wolf, CSCA webmaster School Life Beyond School Work If you're new to the Center School, or just curious to see what options your student might have, check out this list of clubs and groups. Outside the Center School Kayaking -- PE Credit Without Getting Very Wet If you're thinking about signing on for kayaking lessons this autumn, think faster. They need eight students to make a go of it and as of last week only had 3, so pick up a form at the front desk, and get it turned in by Tuesday. First session is Thursday 29 September. For more information, contact Cindy Dieter or Amalie Dieter . Playing With Fire The Center School runs a great art program, but for work that needs more equipment (not to mention protective gear) check out the Pratt Institue of Fine Arts -- teen classes in welding and glass blowing will satisfy your inner fire bug, not to mention print making and other, less incendiary art forms. This term they have a free print making class on October 22nd, where you can print up to three t-shirts. For more information, and registration, look at http://www.pratt.org. Last, But Not Least I know there's construction all over the city, but this particular project looks like it has big potential.
