Driver's Ed at TCS 2010
CSCA Board - BLAST News Items

Driver’s Ed at TCS!

Registration & First Day of Class:  Tuesday, March 2

The Seattle School District Traffic Ed. Dept. will offer a course in driver training at The Center School.  This course prepares students who desire to obtain a driver’s license before the legal age of 18.  Any student age 15 or older may take the course.  Students will be able to take the program after school without traveling to another school site. Registration Day (which is also the first day of class) is Tuesday, March 2nd at Center.

The course meets for 15 class days (2 hours per class) and includes 6 on-street drive lessons.  Both class and on-street lessons are taught by certificated teachers with a special endorsement for traffic education.  The program has been in Seattle Schools since the early 1940’s.  Classes will meet after school 3:10 – 5:10 on Tuesdays and Thursdays except for any holidays.  A separate drive lesson schedule will be determined after the class begins.  Students paying the full fee on Day #1 will receive an application to obtain a learner’s permit.  This waiver form allows them to get a permit without passing a written test.  Participating students and their parent will obtain the permit at a Dept. of Licensing site.  A list of those sites and credentials to take with you will be provided.

Any interested student should check their schedule for availability.  No more than 2 absences are allowed.  All materials are included in the $559 course fee.  Registration Forms are available at the front desk at The Center School.  For questions call the Traffic Ed. Office at 206-252-4735.
