Guest Artist: Willow Heath

Modern Miniatures: A painting workshop

Choose your own subject and create a set of 2-3 contemporary miniature paintings that pop off the canvas.

Use oil or acrylic paints to explore realism with a modern approach and gain valuable knowledge of color mixing, painting light and shadow, composition, and technique. Train your artist's eye to see the fine details that illuminate a painting, and paint your own artist trading cards to give to your friends.

Alaska born Willow Heath has shown her paintings nationally for over twelve years. Each original Willow Heath painting carries an astute attention to detail, vivid colors and clear depictions.

An award winning visual artist, Willow is known best for her modern figurative paintings and her obsession with the "little" details. Willow has carved a niche for herself and created a lucrative business of her art by being a business renaissance woman in the art world. Willow Heath uses water soluble oil and acrylic paints in each of her pieces, and creates her palette using basic primary and colors and white. She feels that by mixing her own colors she can more accurately express her inspiration, thereby adding another layer to her artistry to her process.

Willow spent many years of her childhood in the remote wilderness of the Alaskan frontier where her family homesteaded. She spent the later part of her childhood traveling and living a nomadic lifestyle immersed in the arts. The artist feels that these unique experiences have helped to shape her artistic visions and allowed her a platform to express herself unabridged.
