UPCOMING

Night Out at the Seattle Rep for TCS Community

Thursday, January 14 – 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm

See attached ticket order form

TCS students, family, and friends will have a wonderful opportunity to see the full dress rehearsal -- the night before opening -- of the Seattle Rep's production of "Speech and Debate." Directed by Andrea Allen (who works with TCS kids) and written by young playwright Stephen Karam, "Speech and Debate" is a completely modern, hilarious and heartbreaking look at the struggles of being a teen today. Tackling issues of politics, homosexuality, and self-expression, "Speech and Debate" is recommended for ages 14 and above, and is sure to trigger lively discussion among audience members.

This special evening for TCS community will start with hearty finger foods (pot-luck) and no-host bar at 6:00 p.m., followed by a short introduction to the play by Andrea Allen before the 7:30 curtain. The play runs for 90 minutes with no intermission.

NEWS FROM THE SCHOOL

Needed:  Donations for TCS Science

TCS Science Department needs 35 solar powered simple calculators.  The TI-108 might be a good choice, but we aren’t picky.  The calculators we desire need only to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.  Solar is nice so that we won’t have to replace dead batteries.  But if any parent has a source of cheap non-solar calculators – that would be fine too.  The bottom line is that many students don’t have calculators and we only have about four to share.  We will be doing math related work all year and it is really slowing us down when students have to share calculators and while cell phones do have calculators, we would prefer not to go that route, since it usually leads to texting.

Also wanted:  An engraver to label equipment.  Maybe someone has one lying around?

Thanks!

-Britta Culbertson

We also need people to help set-up (1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on the 14th),

Seeking Ski Bus Chaperones

We still need a chaperone to drive up to Snoqualmie each week.  In case of emergency, this chaperone would be available to bring a student back to Seattle.  Ski and get paid for it!  Chaperones receive a free lift ticket and twenty bucks for gas!
