THIS WEEK AT CENTER SCHOOL Teacher Appreciation Week May 3 - 7 This week, May 3 - 7 is Teacher appreciation week! If there ever was a year to celebrate the creativity, leadership and educational verve of our faculty, this is it! They have worked diligently, both in and out of the classroom, to maintain a cohesive educational environment for our students as the school has undergone multiple principal changes. The CSCA Community Building Committee is organizing small daily reminders of how much we appreciate our staff. Your support with a note or email, or small gift of gratitude from you or your student would be appreciated by our extraordinary staff. Here is a link to the staff directory: www.centerschoolseattle.org/info/directory.html

Projects range from the effect of dehydration on cognitive ability to different types of fats in making soap to the ozonation of water as a means of purifying. It’s a drop-in format where you can engage in conversation with students about their projects, look at the great posters they’ve put together to convey their projects in an aesthetically pleasing way, and enjoy light snacks/dessert with people from throughout the Center School community. You also will vote for the best project in a variety of categories. Parents of Chemistry students, be looking in the mail for your personal invitation. Students in 9th and 10th grade (and their parents!) are also encouraged to attend since this is an endeavor they will undertake in the future. NEWS FROM THE SCHOOL The Center School Spring Fundraising Events: Neighborhood House Parties The CSCA (Center School Community Association) board took a leap of faith this year, opted out of a traditional auction and opted in for a series of House Parties scattered about the city. Our goals are to celebrate our status as an all-city Option school, and to build our community and funding, at a grass roots level. Choose from one of two remaining House Parties, or both! Just think... you don't have to buy a high priced auction ticket or a lot of stuff you didn't need. Have a great meal, great conversation, and all we ask is for a tax-deductable donation to KEEP THE ARTS ALIVE at the Center School! See the attached flyer for dates & times of the remaining events. Please consider, without this funding, valued programs that your students have access to today may have to be cut next year. If you are unable to attend any of the house parties, you can always donate online by visiting our secure giving site at http://www.networkforgood.org/donation/ExpressDonation.aspx?ORGID2=800038130 Or, if you prefer you can to drop a check in the mail, to CSCA (Center School Community Association), PO Box 19475, Seattle, WA 98109. - The CSCA Board

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS Superintendent Performance Review by Communities and Parents for Pubic Schools (CPPS) Communities and Parents for Public Schools (CPPS) of Seattle is a network of parents and community members working together to ensure quality public schools for all Seattle children. We are a local chapter affiliated with Parents for Public Schools, a national organization.
The Seattle School Board is preparing for their annual performance review of the Superintendent. The review sessions will be closed to the public. There are few things more important to our city than our public schools, so it is important that our public officials have a clear understanding of the public's opinions of the Superintendent's performance. Make your voice heard! The survey takes just a few minutes to complete. We'll consolidate and share the results with the Board, Superintendent, and on our web site. All results will be summarized-only so individual responses are confidential. CPPS never shares names or emails with anyone. http://survey.constantcontact.com/survey/a07e2vcq9uwg8ke8z2d/start
