NEWS FROM THE SCHOOL

Visit CSCA Board Table during Arts Showcase

The Center School Community Association's spring "house parties" were a success and a great way to end the year.  The CSCA would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to the CSCA this year, so stop by and see us in the Commons during Arts Showcase for a small token of appreciation.  If you haven't had an opportunity to donate, it is never too late to contribute.  We'll be hosting a bake sale and selling re-useable Center School shopping bags, or you can just give in the spirit of supporting the arts.  Any donation or contribution is welcome!

Lastly you can pick up a list of the programs that, with your help, the CSCA is funding next year, as well as an overview of the programs and accomplishments supported by the CSCA this past year.

Calling All Bakers: Bake Sale at Arts Showcase

Calling all bakers! TCS is hosting a bake sale during the Arts Showcase, (Wednesday June 9). Please plan to come to this event with a dozen cookies, cupcakes, brownies or your favorite "sweet treat" and help support your school. Couple of things to remember:  Chocolate sells, avoid nuts, and all items will be sold for $1. You can drop off your goodies at the sale, which will be held outside of the school.  Questions?  Email lizwolk@yahoo.com

Parking Ticket?

Parents/staff, if you received a parking ticket while at The Center School, please send them in immediately. The parking lot is no longer monitored and you may end up paying the fee if it is not voided.

Thanks –Kathy Webb  kawebb@seattleschools.org

Restoration in Mountain Beaver Habitat
Saturday, June 19 - 10:00am to 2:00pm
Grace Cole Park, Lake Forest Park
Mountain beavers need your help! Come remove invasive species that are threatening Grace Cole Park, habitat for many native birds and animals, including the adorable mountain beaver. Invasive species displace native vegetation and do not provide necessary food or shelter for insects and animals to survive. This beautiful park has already undergone dramatic results thanks to volunteers like you; come join us! Please sign up with nisa@cedarriver.org

Cedar River Restoration
Saturday, June 19 - 10:00am to 1:00pm
Location TBA - Maple Valley

Come join us in helping restore the health of the Cedar River by removing invasive species from along the river banks. Removing invasive species is a critical first step towards restoring native ecosystems. Invasive species restrict the growth of native plants, have no known natural predators, and do not provide food or shelter for native plants and insects. Come spend the day with us restoring the Cedar River! Please contact nisa@cedarriver.org

Ivy Out! in Mountain Beaver Habitat
Saturday, June 26 - 10:00am to 2:00pm
Grace Cole Park, Lake Forest Park
Come help us restore critical wildlife habitat at Grace Cole Park in Lake Forest Park. This beautiful park is home to mountain beavers and spotted towhees, two local species dependent on our native plants for survival. Join us in removing invasive ivy, Hedera helix, that has taken over the forest floor and trees. If you're lucky, you may even spot a mountain beaver! Please sign-up in advance by emailing, nisa@cedarriver.org
