Center School Community Association (CSCA)

We are the Center School's Parent – Teacher – Student Association (PTSA)

Please join us at our General Meeting on Tuesday, May 22 at 6:30 at the school

Meeting Agenda:

1) Briefly talk about the purpose of the Center School's parent-teacher organization. Why do we exist? What's our purpose? What would you like to see our organization do next year?

2) Discuss and vote on our budget for next school year.

3) Vote on our slate of officers for next year.

4) Discuss and vote on two proposed changes to our by-laws:
a)Lower the meeting quorum from twelve to ten members.
b)Permit students to be CSCA voting members. Currently students may attend meetings, but not vote.

The CSCA is an all-volunteer organization and we are seeking several more good people. In particular, we're looking for people to help in the following ways:

• Vice-President – someone who sees her/himself serving as President in nine months.
• Fund Raising – we need more people to help raise money next year to support various school programs.
• Community Building – we're looking for several more people who would help coordinate a community-building evening event next year. Some possible examples: New Parent Orientation Night, Night at the Rep, College Preparation Night, Discussion with School Board President Michael DeBell, etc.

Get Involved!
CSCA 2011-2012 - CSCA Board 2011-2012
Research shows that your child learns more when you are involved in their education.  The small size of Center School means that parent and guardian help is critical to the schools success. Our community has a great tradition of helping the students and staff out. We have many opportunities for you to participate --- whether you want to be visible or invisible!

·   Join the Center School Community Association (CSCA), The Center School’s PTSA. Your membership fee and involvement helps maintain The Center School’s high standards, builds community and supports education in Seattle.

·   Subscribe to The BLAST, our weekly email newsletter to connect with TCS and your student.  The BLAST is the primary publication to learn about what’s going on at The Center School.   Follow the "Subscribe Here" link to the right of this article and follow directions to subscribe.

·   Keep the lines of communication open. Log onto The Source and check your student's grades and email their teachers as needed.  A new feature of the Source is a new Seattle Public Schools hosted website for TCS at: http://centerhs.seattleschools.org

·   Keep talking with your kids about issues that are important to you.

·   Respond to requests for volunteers, whether it be a one time project or on a weekly basis. CSCA cannot be as effective at supporting your student without your help!  Volunteering helps you get to know other parents through attending school events and building community too!

As you can see, being active in your student's school is easy and can pay big dividends in staying connected and part of the community!
